Jubilee Festival in Daphne. Volunteer Opportunities: September 25, 26th: We need volunteers to man our booth and help sell cold waters, sodas, and juices to the folks attending the art festival. We have two hour shifts. Please email director@prodiseepantry.org to sign up to volunteer.
“It’s About Hunger…” We need a lot of volunteers to assist with numerous events during the month of October. Prodisee Pantry is bringing the art exhibit “About Hunger and Resilience” to the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope from October 7th thru November 12th. Four families who’ve been helped by Prodisee Pantry are in the exhibit . We need volunteers for the following events:
- Thursday, October 7th from 6 to 8 pm: Opening Reception at Eastern Shore Art Center… volunteers needed to man tables, set up and clean up, etc. Email director@prodiseepantry.org for more info and to sign up to help.
- Thursday, October 14th from 10 am to 1 pm: It’s About Hunger…physical, emotional & spiritual” This is a day of speakers… on the title subject. Volunteers needed to welcome, bake cookies & cakes, attend refreshment table at Eastern Shore Arts Center. Email director@prodiseepantry.org to sign up to help.
- Thursday, October 21st from 6 to 9 pm: Chefs Challenge Hunger… Six chef’s will compete with dishes based upon food items in boxes we give to need Baldwin County families. This event will be held at Great Kitchens on Hwy 98 in Fairhope. Volunteers needed to assist with parking, set up, take down, raffles, greeting, ticket takers,& many more tasks. - Saturday, October 30th @ 7 am in downtown Daphne: Turkey Trot 5 K & Fun Run… Monies raised at this event will help to purchase turkeys for Thankgiving for some 1,000 families facing tough times. Email director@prodiseepantry.org to sign up to help.
- Friday, November 5th at Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope: Friday Night Art Walk.
For a preview of the art exhibit log on to : www.michaelnye.org and view “About Hunger & Resilience” This unique exhibit includes four families facing hunger in Baldwin County who have been client families of Prodisee Pantry. It is a moving, powerful, emotional exhibit of intense Black & White Photographs and 5 minute audio clips of the families stories of hunger. The art exhibit is free all month long at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope. We hope all volunteers and the public will go the the Art Center and experience this exhibit. Our purpose for bring the show to Baldwin County is to raise awareness of HUNGER! Thanks for your continuing help and prayers.
Prodisee Pantry is staffed by volunteers. Our client base continues to grow and so does our need for additional volunteers to handle this increase.
- Monday: a basic workday when volunteers, sort, shelve and pre-box food items. Hours: 8:30 to 11:00am
- Tuesday: Greeting families, filing applications, interviewing clients, bagging and boxing groceries, stocking shelves, assisting clients to their cars and securing community support through contributions of food items and/or cash donations. Hours: 8:30am to Noon.
- First Monday of the Month: general work night. Hours: 6:30 to 8:30pm.
- Wednesday: general work night. Hours: 6:00 to 7:30pm
- Weekdays: secretarial assistance. Hours: 8:30am to 2:30pm
